Oct.19 Texas governor,Greg Abbott announced the defunding of Planned Parenthood’s medicaid program.
That same day ,Texas Health and Human Services Commission inspector general Stuart W. Bowen Jr. in a written statement sent to the organization declared,“the State has determined that you and your Planned Parenthood affiliates are no longer capable of performing medical services in a professionally competent, safe, legal and ethical manner, and that as a result, Planned Parenthood will be cut out of the state Medicaid program. “
According to slate.com,the only government funding that goes to Planned Parenthood in Texas goes only those who qualify for simple Medicaid. In Texas it requires a strict financial standing yearly income of $3,760 , for a family of three to qualify for Medicaid and adults with no dependents cannot qualify.
Now with that taken away Texas’ low-class, women will be helpless and incapable of receiving any care. The already impossible just got a whole lot worse for women’s affordable health care.
Perhaps other facilities can try and replace the work and care Planned Parenthood has done over the years. However this is not to be done so easily as such a huge responsibility is being left in minor facilities that are only sidesteps in comparison to a such major health facility that’s taken care of women for years.
Last year alone Planned Parenthood provided cancer screenings for nearly 3,000 Texas women according to the CDC. Among other services provided were preventive care ,pap tests, birth control, pelvic exams ,mammograms and other services among the condemned abortion in the face of Republicans.
Medicaid brings about one third of money for planned parenthood and such a cut can mean no good for the organization according to texasmonthly.com.
Not only is the defunding of the organization a problem but it also affects availability. In places like Waco there is no alternative providers but that of Planned Parenthood and poor residents in the area are left without any hope of service.
The Bowen’s statement letter and recent law proceedings in the name of Planned Parenthood are a weak excuse in response for the allegations of supposed Planned Parenthood undercover recordings of their facilities including one in Houston.
This summer in July, speaker of the House Mr.Boehner urged to have an investigation of Planned Parenthood. In which around the same time an anti abortion group began posting videos online of the secretly recorded videos according to Ny-Times.com
Analyst Glen Simpson of Fusion GPS,a Washington based research and corporate intelligence company said about the investigated videos,...”they do not present a complete or accurate record of the events they purport to depict.”
The significant ,and largely entitled corporation for the well being of women is now jeopardized over such falsehood which excuse Texas lawmakers to denounce all that is reasonable and equally fair for the women of their state.
According to yahoo health.com there has been no fetal tissue donation or collection in Texas since the 2010-2011 and, only one Planned Parenthood clinic participated in fetal tissue donation program.
It’s been legally proven that the organization is not doing anything against the law yet conservative lawmakers are blindsided to anything that dignifies women.
“We will fight back against this outrageous, malicious, political attack in Texas with everything we've got, and we will protect women's access to the health care they need and deserve”,Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said in a statement to the Associated Press.
