Indie Films That Make Adolescence More Tolerable

1) Angus,Thongs and a Perfect Snogging

This film addresses the pains of growing up and going through those awkward ,awful teenage years in life. The struggle of fitting in a looney school that glorifies popularity in the figure of the skinny, blonde fake barbie girl dominance. The terrifying infatuation and anxiety one feels with our first serious crush. This is movie is the more PG ,UK version of Mean Girls with less focus on mean girls but a close friendships.

2)Submarine

This is another great indie film from the UK.This film is painfully hilariously abstract about life's adversities.About a boy meets girl scenario involving Oliver, and Jordana a tough girl, bully who Oliver compliant as they are both deemed as outcasts at their school.Oliver who who is trying to find  defiance in life ,while saving his parents marriage finds himself struggling to manage all aspects of his life.

3)Ameile

This French indie is as tragic as it is hilarious. This movie takes on the life of a French gal Ameile and her tragic past. Ameile just an ordinary girl ,sets to better the life of those she encounters in her daily living to returning lost treasures to strangers. When one day she  finds a photo album and sets to return it to its owner who she then falls in love with and pursuits to finding .

4)Frances Ha

Set in black and white to add nice indie, classical touch. It is a film that tells a story about a girl who is awkward in her naturea. She struggles with simple things like being "likable" enough for a guy to keeping up with the adult life of finances. It has a right down to earth feeling in that it is Gordad-ian ,French aesthetic with a dilalogue that plays resemblance to a Woody Allen hopeless romantic idealism.

5)Ghost World

Based on two best-friends who have nothing entitled to their name after  high-school,who then began a life of job hunting and face the atrocities of real life. One of them(Rebecca) manages to keep up with the real life while the other(Enid) has problems being complaisant in the work field .Enid then finds comfort in an elderly man and leaves all hopes of moving out and getting her life together.

Defunding Of Planned Parenthood:Texas

Oct.19 Texas  governor,Greg Abbott announced the defunding of Planned Parenthood’s medicaid program.

That same day ,Texas Health and Human Services Commission inspector general Stuart W. Bowen Jr. in a written statement sent to the organization declared,“the State has determined that you and your Planned Parenthood affiliates are no longer capable of performing medical services in a professionally competent, safe, legal and ethical manner, and that as a result, Planned Parenthood will be cut out of the state Medicaid program. “

According to slate.com,the only  government funding that goes to Planned Parenthood in Texas  goes only those who qualify for simple Medicaid. In Texas it requires a strict financial standing yearly income of $3,760  , for a family of three to qualify for Medicaid and adults with no dependents cannot qualify.

Now with that taken away Texas’ low-class, women will be helpless and incapable of receiving any care. The already impossible just got a whole lot  worse for women’s affordable health care.

Perhaps other facilities  can  try and replace the work and care Planned Parenthood has done over the years. However this is not to be done so easily as such a huge responsibility is being left in minor facilities that are only sidesteps  in comparison to a   such major health facility that’s taken care of women for years.

Last year alone Planned Parenthood provided cancer screenings for nearly 3,000 Texas women  according to the CDC. Among other services provided were preventive care ,pap tests, birth control, pelvic exams ,mammograms and other services among  the condemned abortion in the face of Republicans.

Medicaid brings about one third of money for planned parenthood and such a cut can mean no good for the organization according to texasmonthly.com.
Not only is the defunding of the organization a problem but it also affects availability. In places like Waco there is no alternative providers but that of Planned Parenthood and poor residents in the area are left without any hope of service.

The Bowen’s statement letter  and  recent law proceedings in the name of Planned Parenthood are a weak excuse in response for the allegations of supposed Planned Parenthood undercover recordings of their facilities including one in Houston.

This summer in July, speaker of the House Mr.Boehner urged to have an investigation of Planned Parenthood. In which around the same time an anti abortion group began posting videos online of the secretly recorded videos according to Ny-Times.com

Analyst Glen Simpson of Fusion GPS,a Washington based research  and corporate intelligence company said about the investigated videos,...”they do not present a complete or accurate record of the events they purport to depict.”

The significant ,and largely entitled corporation for the well being of women is now jeopardized over such falsehood which excuse  Texas lawmakers to denounce all that is reasonable and equally fair for the women of their state.

According to yahoo health.com there has been no fetal tissue donation or collection  in Texas since the 2010-2011 and, only one Planned Parenthood clinic participated in fetal tissue donation program.

It’s been legally proven that the organization is not doing anything against the law yet conservative lawmakers are blindsided to anything that dignifies women.

“We will fight back against this outrageous, malicious, political attack in Texas with everything we've got, and we will protect women's access to the health care they need and deserve”,Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said in a statement to the Associated Press.

The Famous Lightining Bolt

Striking Revelations of the Lightning Bolt!

I've recently have acquired the temptation to embed a lighting bolt deep in my skin.I first came upon this idea after seeing a portrait of my most constant ,remarkable idol ,Patti Smith with a tattoo on her right knee.

I believe that this is urge might also be another impulse of mine to get off my system. I've thought about it and if anything is to be inked in my flesh for life is this.

I tend to model myself after the beloved grandmother of punk rock. She is a prodigy that continues to influence girls and artists, to carry on .For girls she is a feminist goddess, who set many firsts for the upcoming, liberated female musician. She herself is the embodiment of feminist power house that radiates energy to all girls that feel  neglect for their sexuality, class,or other general standings.

Patti is a great musician and writer.I myself consider her early life memoir ,Just Kids  a great examination of a life of an artist in the New York scene.A lover of classical  French poets, cinema and painters.A founder of punk  rock and great aspiration to the many great female musicians of today.

Patti Smith gives me great hope in that she herself embodies the idea that a female musician can make a respectable name for herself. She also has achieved a successful music career,  raised a family and managed writing career on the side. She has given me hope in many ways in my troubled youth.

Although nothing as great as the queen ,I always looked up to her in my moments of self doubt and self growth.I know I'm no musician or legitimate writer ,but in many ways I found myself longing to be one.For that I want something that reminds me of her profoundly and all that she means to girls like me.

However I have not completely resolved how she herself came with the idea of the lighting bolt tattoo all so surely.I found two quotes from her memoir that seem to clarify things a bit.

From her book Just Kids she mentions the novel Crazy Horse :

I thought of something I learned from reading Crazy Horse: The Strange Man of the Oglalas by Mari Sandoz. Crazy Horse believes that he will be victorious in battle, but if he stops to take spoils from the battlefield, he will be defeated. He tattoos lightning bolts on the ears of his horses so the sight of them will remind him of this as he rides. I tried to apply this lesson to the things at hand, careful not to take spoils that were not rightfully mine.”

In another excerpt from her memoir, she mentions a girl in which she is influenced by her image to get the tattoo.

"I decided I wanted a similar tattoo. I was sitting in the lobby drawing versions of lightning bolts in my notebook when a singular woman entered. She had wild red hair, a live fox on her shoulder, and her face was covered with delicate tattoos. I realized that if one erased the tattoos, they would reveal the face of Vali, the girl on the cover of Love on the Left Bank. Her picture had long ago found a place on my wall.

"I asked her outright if she would tattoo my knee. She stared at me and nodded in assent, not saying anything. In the next few days we arranged that she would tattoo my knee in Sandy Daley’s room, and that Sandy would film it, just as she had filmed Robert getting his nipple pierced, as if it were my turn to be initiated."

That in the name of the punk goddess gives me an good enough nudge to ink my skin. However, not entirely convinced I have found other great inspirations from other icons of the scene who rocked the lighting bolt.

The likes of David Bowie who glorified the striking ,lighting bolt face makeup.David Bowie, whom in his Ziggy Stardust phase,he glamorously wore.

David Bowie ,himself was influenced by no other than the king,Elvis Presley.

Presley a great influence of Bowie's in many aspects, like choice of body suits and mullet like hair. They both recorded for RCA and they both even had the same birth date.

Bowie's adaptation of his Ziggy phase was once again a greatly influenced by the ring the king often wore.

"The lightning bolt motif Bowie wore for the Aladdin Sane album cover was partly inspired by a ring that Elvis wore – which had a lightning bolt emblem along with the letters TCB.  Of course, Elvis was more famous for his TCB pendants than his ring, but that’s beside the point," according to elvisblog.com

My Writing inspirations:Tavi Gevingson ;Being a multi-artist

My inspiration :Why I Write

I don't remember ever being in love with the idea of writing but more with the idea of sharing something with others. In an over all sense that's exactly what writing might be.All good writing is done from a core within the writer that later seeks to be dug out by others and be understood.Someone who is in pain may only write to vent ,to let emotions come out , in turn it can also serve the reader to understand that emotion on another perspective.

I myself write about topics that have occurred or inspired to me.I love writing about music and art as a idea to share with others because I love such topics.Ever since high-school I knew I wanted be a music writer no matter all the bad shade thrown at women in the field. However I grew out of wanting to strictly write about music because there's so much more that effects me daily and I want to be able share those impacts.

Topics that catch my attention as a writer are women's rights, psychology, travel, decor and most types of art including
painting, photography, poetry, literature, film and fashion. The reason I specifically center around these topics is because as a writer I respect such work immensely. Mostly because the work in such fields, I have myself longed to produce.Although I love writing as both an art and as a medium to interact with others ,I have always longed to be a multi-artist.I only get a glimpse of the work when writing about it ,yet  I rather write about it than not have any association at all.

As a writer who is interested in multiple topics I have always been inspired by publications zines like Rookie magazine,Dazed and Confused,I-d magazine,Interview magazine,Nylon and my recent favorite Austere magazine.Austere is home based publication here in Denton/Dallas, Texas.Their topics include topics on fashion, music, art forms, and people.I wish I had known about them much  earlier because they are magnificent and a great bunch of individuals .I hope be as bold as them, and make my produce in a formal not so formal way.Work for the men while doing what I love.

Individuals ,more like heroines like Petra Collins and Tavi Gevingson from Rookie Magazine have set the doors and liberated so many young girls and guys. They write about daily life problems and in that style they prove to  be exceptionally like no other publishing site. They are an open book of great art fumes and condolences ,wrapped in sympathy for all lost teenagers. There's not a day when my writing doesn't reflect the values and humanism ideals of being a young teenage girl because of the confidence they have provided me with so.My honest writing has been greatly influenced by them.Yes,Tavi Genvingson is my ultimate hero and I thank her for allowing such movement in the publishing works to be abound. All in hope I will work to become someone like her a young women and a great vision that helped many.

How (F.O.M.O) is mentally and physically damaging through a digital spectrum

In this  new age of high technology innovations which are created  to represent social trends adhering to the masses. With all social mediums at the realm of admiration for almost everything in our lives.

Countless social media dominating a new part of our reality everyday. We not so much socialize with such mediums but rather find our selves waiting for every post a certain celebrity or commercial brand/organization makes. It sends jolts through us  knowing we are the first to heart, like or favorite a post of  that public figure. As though they might notice such things,we then make some witty and often dumb and unnecessary comment as it

Some of us are so desperate for social media attention that we become so engulfed with this fake manifestation .Once we reach  more twitter followers than we followed back , were ultimately too good to have any real friends. We spent countless of hours perfecting our selfies because we want to show how "ridiculous good looking" we can be to our hypocrite fan span.At night we cant sleep at the thought of forgetting to post that funny or overly dramatic Facebook / Twitter status. The best of all Snap chat because who does not want to see your flattering face all fucking day long while sending cute messages to your friends.Seeing all those absurd meal pictures, more countless selfies, chasing of a squirrel  or dog doing some dumb trick and my personal favorite the driving while lip syncing  Drake sums up my snap chat feed.

This is what most of us are somewhat scared to miss out on.I myself was and sometimes can still be drawn to social media because I don't want to miss another Kardasian nude or Taylor Swift twitter cat fight. It all this absurdity in lack of faith to real human interaction can in fact be more self inflicting for our health and in part make us hate each other even more.

Now there have been a very few scenarios in which I could gracefully use social media to actually interact meaningfully with another human being. Also there been times where I lost my phone and resorted to sending a message to a fiend via social media and hours later they  replied. It also can be a good dis-stressor for when you want to rant about how that lady who forgot to use almond milk in your Starbucks dared to misspell your name.Because who else will forcefully listen to such crap.It also great for finding old friends or new ones a.k.a stalking.I myself have invested myself in the art as it is the most beneficial thing about it anyway.

However this social media co-dependency is really messing with our mental and physical health. For instance we often look up ideas based on consumer driven media which takes over our own personal perspectives.Like the idealism of beauty, talent, social awareness and intellectualism .Although social media is diverse in age and nationality it hardly does any justice in bringing those groups together. We sometimes can infer the worst about others and even comment disgusting remarks because they are not like us.I know that racism and prejudice is nothing new yet online world makes more possible.

Young girls are the one that feel often subjugated to feed into this social media spring. They are most likely to follow up on newly, and sometimes silly trends.A lot  of which leave girls feeling unfitted because of the constant need to stay on top of these trends.A lot start to develop eating disorders as they long for unhealthy body images. As a result many young girls also become mentally ill. They can often become anxious or depressed for no being able to obtain such an impossible image. Also many lose their own sense of identity trying to replicate the one of someone else.It can also make one lose creativity and the adverse to try something  new and original .

I understand that these new technological innovations at their start mean no harm but most result in such realities in the being.Get of your device take a walk outside and breathe, take a run, hike,go ride a bike. The only thing you're missing out is on your life. You have become self inclined to these idea that the online world has a better offering to your life than well your life.Do no more  self harm and get out.

My Top Five David Lynch Film Rating

My Top Five David Lynch Film Rating

David Lynch, what a sensation of a man. With movies as obscure and sexual as most of our wet dreams. Don't deny it, the guy's a genius and all of his films are a compilation of ideas which bring out the best erections ,oops I mean reactions in all of us.Think about it most of his movies always have the four to five major components that which allure people to his films.I not saying he himself is a common film maker because he's far from that and that's why I admire him.All I'm saying is that he himself knows what makes a film great.Although like most film writers he adds a peculiar ,gloomy like twist that makes you question whether it all might be a graphic telling of his own suppressed dreams.Perhaps I'm wrong and because I deem his films as work of art that shouldn't be interpreted as we were looking at a  cubism, Picasso painting. It's just a broken puzzle that should be left at that.If changed it wouldn't be as appealing to the eye or mind. It's all very much psychological.Genius!

1)Eraserhead

This particular movie is like no other I had ever seen is my ultimate Lynch favorite. It was my first of his movie to watch as it is highly regarded as his best film and so far I wouldn't disagree. It's a 70s' film with the aesthetic of a 1950s' horror / silent film. The film set in black and white sets an mood of eeriness to come. The film is about a man who is soon to become a father and soon finds out his son is strictly ill and with the complexion of what resembles an alien. What I understood was a depiction of what it must feel to become a father, without being prepared and the horrors that come along with it.
Here's one of my favorite scenes from the movie:

2)Lost Highway

This film has the ultimate sex appeal ,gangster dominance, porn, car chase, violence and stark mystery in which makes a great American film. This movie was the first movie to bring real confusion as an introduction to all his movies that I watched afterwards.I felt almost dumb and incapable of not being to fully comprehend this film.As of this day I still don't fully understand the climax's twist of fate and main character roles.
Is as though the main character gave up and so they tried to replace him halfway of the movie with another good, looking fellow. Also miss lady sex appeal throws you off with her look a like twin sister that happens to non grungy ,Marilyn Monroe of the film.I myself don't full it understand it nor will I try to interpret it  simply because it is a work of art nothing less or more.Although there's tons of explanations and interpretations of this and all his other films online if you're a brainless square(just kidding).

Take a peak below

s

3)Blue Velvet

A true mystery left on the hands of main character Jeffrey Beamont (Kyle MacLachlan). After he himself finds a severed ear and then up ,so that makes it one of my personal favorites. However intriguing I find his complex ,analytical master pieces I really just appreciate the simple things in life. This film involves a hot damsel in distress, a gangster and his crowd of monkeys, and yes sex. It's the less pornographic dream come to film.

4)Inland Empire

Let's just start by saying that this film is a film within a film .If that doesn't sound like a situation complexity I don't know what does.I myself dominate this Lynch film to be the most puzzling ,random scene configuration his work has to offer. My ADD I recall wouldn't resonate to come to terms and take in all that was put through for what lasted three hours 17 seconds. This movie however endeavors much more of an artistic point of view and self control.A much watch if you love boobies, random rabbit scene, random dancing, random, weird random!I might even consider looking the synopsis for this one at one point.

5)Muholland Drive

This move is what I call the almost porno graphic ,male sexual fantasy. You got your two main roles, a white, pristine ,pretty blond and a Latina with fair skin and big breasts. One bounded there to be come a movie star and the other there simply by fate.A turn of events that happened unexpectedly after they two become lovers and just as good friends or lovers one is always bound to betray you and take all that was meant for you.No personal implications just the way I see it.
